NPB Bullet Points: Spring Training in Pictures
NPB spring camps have opened throughout southern Japan, and here are six pictures from around the league, pre-approved to be interesting by me.
- Lotte outfielder Ikohiro Kiyota, taking part in a knock drill with a glove on each hand and his chin resting on a bat.
- Yomiuri rookie Hirokazu Sawamura, feeding milk to a calf.
- Yuki Saito’s golden boy status doesn’t get him out of trawling the mound.
- Saito’s more experienced teammate Yu Darvish threw on the first day of camp.
- Matt Murton, handing out signed baseball cards to fans.
- Jonathan Albaladejo is a big guy. Here he is jogging with his translator, who is 180cm (5’10) tall.

The translator was in Masao Kida’s car that had an accident when Kida was with, I believe, the Dodgers. He was seriously injured, but he is now good enough to jog. That’s good.

Man, Albaladejo is HUGE.
It’s hard to believe that he’s only(?) 195cm. For a moment there I thought for sure he was nearly Randy-sized.
