Giants Clinch Central Title, NPB Tracker Takes a Break
Well, the Giants have wrapped up their third straight Central League title, their first three-peat since the fabled V9 team of the 60’s and early 70’s. I watched the first five innings of the game, and Wirfin Obispo looked alright, though the Dragons managed to get to him after they adjusted to his fastball. You can check out archived footage of the final out and celebration on justin.tv.
In other news, the recent lack of activity on this site should be pretty apparent by now. My day job has kept me pretty insanely occupied over the last week or so, and I don’t expect it to let up for another couple weeks. But I promise that I will be back with some interesting stuff in the short term. In the meantime, we are keeping Twitter up to date with all the latest NPB news.

I think you need to get your priorities straightened out. You should quit your day job if it is keeping you from working on your blog. There are baseball fans all over the world depending on you. I, for one, promise to click your ads more frequently from now on and maybe your kids can get paper routes or start a lemonade stand to help out, too.

Hope you can keep the blog up, it’s been a tremendous source of information on Japanese baseball.
Just being curious: how important is the Central league title after the introduction of the new playoff format when it doesn’t guarantee a trip to the Japan Series any more?

Clinching the title allows the Giants to rest during stage 1 of the Climax Series while the 2nd and 3rd place teams play a best-of-3.
During stage 2, the Giants start with a one-win advantage, so they only need to win 3 games to advance to the Japan Series, while their opponent needs to win 4 games. The Giants would also enjoy home-field advantage for all games during this stage.
