Ken Takahashi was GREAT. I was hearing it on my iPhone.

    K. Takahashi came in to relieve SP Oliver Perez (Line Score: 2.1 IP, 5 H, 4 R & ER, 6 B [ugh], 2 SO).

Talk about thrown to the Wolves, Fire, and a sand box ballpark with the Phillies’ leading 4-2 at the 3rd inning & Bases are Loaded & 1 out and Mets’ Ken Takahashi first MLB debut appearance looks like that. Big Pressure Situation, right?

    K. Takahashi got a lucky double play to get out of the Bases Loaded jam. Then, kept the Phillies score less for two inning and got his 1st MLB StrikeOut was from Phillies [Former NL MVP] Ryan Howard. Also got his 1st At Bat, too.

If the Mets would have won this game, Ken Takahashi, would & is have been the savior for Oliver Perez’s mess.

Thinking Out Loud: 1st appearance doesn’t count for too much for me but Ken Takahashi performance was extraordinary. Need to see how the 2nd, 3rd, and so on looks like.

I don’t think K. Takahashi will remain with the Mets too long because Roster spots that are in DL will have to be brought up to replace him. Unless something goes crazy. This week I think will be very important to see if he can give the same performance.

Yea… he was great. He got out us out of a very tough situation with the basses loaded in a home-run hitters park. And he continued for two more innings. He throws very slow and although he’s scheduled to start at least two games, I think (and hope) he will do well. I’m also really excited b/c i just recently became a Carp fan after going to a few of their games last month and really wanted a Japanese player on my team. I even went to that crazy Carp/Hanshin game where the tigers came back from 7 runs but we left between the 7th inning and missed it all. But I’m a Carp fan now so i wouldn’t of been happy…lol.

Baseball Update: NY Mets LHP Ken Takahashi was in the game (as a Reliever) against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday (May 08, 2009)

    K. Takahashi – *Line Score: IP 0.1, H 0, R 0, ER 0, BB 0, SO 0, HR 0, PC 1-1, ERA 0.00

    *ESPN.com Mets 7, Pirates 3 Box Score (May 08, 2009)
    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=290508121

Somehow, I get the feeling that the NY Mets are just going to send Ken Takahashi, when there are just Runners In Scoring Position (RISP) for opposing teams every time, he’s out there? Well, with just one pitch against Pirates’ CF *Nate McLouth. Ken Takahashi, again, gets out of jam with two men left on base for the Pirates with a ground out at the Top of the 7th Inning. Now with two appearances, Mets K. Takahashi has kept (3 Phillies + 2 Pirates =) 5 inherited runners from not scoring any Runs.

*Pirates’ CF Nate McLouth = Bats: Left ’08 NL Gold Glover + ’08 NL All Star

That actually sounds like a good strategy. This is a guy that opposing won’t have seen in the majors, won’t have seen in the minors, and won’t have _that_ much scouting data on. Pitchers are at an advantage when facing a hitter for the first time, so the Mets using their advantage with Takahashi in high leverage situations makes sense.

Takahashi may have done something noteworthy tonight. The double he surrendered to McCann was McCann’s 500th career hit.

Mop-up time for Ken tonight, I see. One thing I’ve noticed from Takahashi’s lines is how many strikes he throws. Nelson, is he getting all of his pitches over? Do you think that will catch up with him as time goes on?

PWH, Kenshin put up a better line yesterday. I actually watched part of the game on TBS, but by the time I turned it on Ed O’Flaherty was in.

Patrick: I’m not seeing the Mets games on TV but I’m hearing the games on my iPhone and if I’m lucky, I’ll see a video replay, which is a HR or RBI hit.

Looking at the some “Pitch-By-Pitch” sequence count (A, B, C, D – ESPN) from his pervious Relief Appearances. Ken Takahashi usually starts with the first pitch for Ball, majority of the his appearances. I’m guessing, he like to, first, set up outside the high & low, and outside corners of Strike Zone. Then, he’ll Pitch around the Strike Zone, that’s not outside, when necessary.
